Getting ready for our first cycle
Nominations are not open yet. The start and end dates, participating Kindle titles, and adult nomination form will be published before the first cycle starts.
No purchase necessary. Nominators receive no prize or payment.
Donation transparency
Every cycle, clearly accounted for
No completed cycle reports have been published. Future reports will show the cycle dates, eligible royalties, 10% calculation, selected charity, donation date, and redacted receipt.
The planned royalty base is sales royalties and Kindle Unlimited/KENP royalties from the Kindle titles listed for that cycle, after refunds, reversals, and Amazon deductions reflected in KDP reports, before the publisher’s own income taxes. Paperback, hardcover, and merchandise revenue are excluded unless a cycle expressly includes them. This is 10% of eligible royalties—not 10% of a book’s retail price.
When will the selected charity receive the donation?
A 90-day cycle covers earnings; the donation follows when the necessary KDP reports and payments are available. The program rules intend payment within 30 days after those records and payments are available, subject to charity verification, acceptance, and processing delays.
Is Amazon running the giving program?
No. Lucas Family Gives Back is independently operated by I Feel Sorry for Your Mother. Amazon and nominated charities do not sponsor or endorse the program unless a separate relationship is expressly announced.
